HOW I CRACKED THE PMP EXAM IN 21 DAYS BY RITA MULCAHY’S 10TH EDITION.

     12015 views

The general methodologies and practices of project management have changed over time. The changes in processes, concepts, techniques, and tools have resulted in a drastic change in the exam pattern. All these factors are listed in Rita Mulcahy’s 10th Edition making it one of the best-selling PMP Exam Prep Books. The book does not aim at memorizing formulas and paragraphs to just pass the exam and eventually forget them. A book is a learning tool, wherein users can use the information in the book, pass the exam with situational knowledge, and become great project managers. ProThoughts conducts multiple certification training workshops including PMP Certification, training, easily accessible resources, and materials to crack the PMP exam.

Few easy approaches to studying the resources for PMP Exam:

  • The Magic Three: If a topic is looked at three times, it is more likely to stay in memory for a long. The book must be read once and then glanced over two more times, especially on the concepts which you faced difficulty in understanding the first time. Each chapter of the book must be looked at carefully at least thrice. When visiting the chapter the second time, remember to focus more on the gaps that were left earlier.
  • Taking Test: Questions for each chapter must be practiced for four hours. Learn the topics thoroughly before taking up the practice tests. The practice test may or may not take long depending on the understanding of the topic.

ProThoughts provides the user with access to study material, classroom training, online training, and e-books to improve and ease learning.

Having a study plan is mandatory. The following are two recommendations:

Plan A: Rita Mulcahy’s 10th edition and PMP Exam Prep System.

  • The main objective here is to focus on learning the book, completing or attempting the practice exams, reviewing activities, and filling the knowledge gap.
  • On completing the first chapter, move to the first page and review the topics. Make sure you understand every term and concert before moving on to the next chapter.
  • It is always encouraged to form groups of three or four while studying. This way the knowledge and doubts can be shared and clarified.
  • Make sure that you are thorough with the material. Keep a track of your progress.
  • Do not take up more than two full exam simulations before the exam. Taking up the exam more than twice might limit your understanding only to the questions given and not the whole concept of it.
  • If the score doesn’t cross over 70% you will require a refresher in core project management concepts. Review each wrong answer and analyze the mistakes made. This will help you to focus on areas you are lagging and give you a closure on how much more studies are to be done for the same.
  • Once you have analyzed yourself try and complete 20 sets of questions to check your progress. Note that these questions should be limited to 20.
  • Take a second attempt on the PMP exam and make sure you score above 75% in the practice exam.
  • You can also refer to Hot topics flashcards and other materials to reserve the information you have gained before the exam. And you can finally pass the exam.

World-class materials along with one on one counseling are provided at ProThoughts. Refer to the site for more information.

Plan B: Using The Book as a Stand Alone.

  • The main aim here is to read the book and attempt all the exercises and not to do the practice exams at the end of every topic. It is necessary to understand and clarify the gaps in your knowledge or actual project management experience. Be frequent and adapt strategies to work on areas you are weak.
  • After completing each chapter, visit the terms and concepts listed on the first page and recall them.
  • Once you are thorough with the chapters, move to practice exams in one sitting. This will create a standard on how much you have learned. This also helps you to check how much time should be kept for studying and which chapters are to be concentrated more.
  • Practice the exam only after being confident in your studies. Review each right and wrong answer and understand where the mistake was. Learn from mistakes.
  • Clean out the errors in understanding concepts and terms.
  • If you do not receive 70% and above, opt for a refresher in core project management concepts. Make sure you know the material and retake the exam. Always try to give specific answers rather than general ones.
  • Keep in mind how large project management works, be determined to study the materials, and be confident about filling your gaps before attempting exams. Following these will help you pass the exam.

CONCLUSION:

These approaches can guarantee you not only clearly understand and memorize the concepts of project management but also help you to pass the exam both theoretically and practically by reducing the pmp certification cost. This way of learning will improve your creative thinking and will help you to answer questions with confidence concerning any situation.
