PMP: Those Three Magical Letters After My Name Made Me Feel Proud

     5272 views

I am Jesal Thakkar, an Instrumentation and control engineer having a professional experience of 10 years in designing oil and gas plants. I am currently associated with a multinational company (Linde Engineering India Pvt. Ltd.) and have acted as Project Engineer on various EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) projects across the globe.

Having completed a vast spectrum of activities and project lifecycles with different cross-functional teams, I become an aspirant to pursue a specialisation in the Project Management field to elevate my current professional level. I wanted to get in-depth knowledge of the subject and thought of diving deeper into it. I ran my analysis and found that ugh my colleagues, I got connected with the ProThoughts team and I was convinced that I will get a great mentorship there. They not only answered all my WHY questions via counselling sessions but also created a PMP certification that is exactly what I was looking for. Its global presence and recognition made me realise to opt for it immediately, so I started approaching people for the same. Luckily thro positive mindset in preparation without having prior experience in project management.

Success Roadmap

I was enrolled with ProThoughts in the year 2020-2021 the first online batch with a new curriculum and all-to-gather a new exam pattern. I attended a 4 days power pack online session conducted by Mr. Arvind Nahata (the mentor) which helped me in gaining 35 PDUs for my application. The mentor’s years of experience in teaching project management made it a piece of cake to understand all the concepts in depth and gain knowledge seamlessly. His positive attitude, clearing all doubts in class as well as personal level made the learning experience even better. In the end, he also gave a summarised plan on how to study for the examination which was a mini-project plan from initiation to closing.

It is needless to mention that the professional support team of ProThoughts was part of my success as well. They resolved all the queries related to study materials, and ProMock PMP prep. Exams.

I followed a flexible plan which goes from daily 1-2 hours to 4-5 hours on weekends reading student manuals from the PMI choice platform, exam content outline, Rita Mulchay book (10th Edition) a comprehensive book for waterfall mainly and ACP guide for agile methodology. I was fortunate enough that ProThoughts material included both methodologies (Waterfall + Agile) which helped me a lot in preparing for my examination. Soon after, I went through all the written class notes, mind maps and flash cards on the ProThoughts e-learning platform as a thorough revision before taking Mock tests.

Thereafter I started giving my PMP mock tests. Initially, I was scoring about 67-68% because ProMock tests were in real time and tougher than expected. Rather than breaking my confidence in the setbacks, I went thoroughly with the explanation given in pmp mock test answers and quickly began strategizing my preparation along with SWOT analysis for the weak topics. I was exam ready after 3 months of hard work and booked the exam date with all faith in myself. On D-day I managed my exam anxiety and answered all the questions to the best of my analysis. I was skeptical after the first section but gained confidence in the other two sections.

Finally, I submitted my last question and boom! Congratulations on passing your PMP exam message flashed which gave me an emotional rush and goosebumps. I scored above target as a result and those three magical letters (PMP) after my name made me feel proud and welcomed me as a certified project manager by entering into an elite group of professionals.

Final Milestone

The magic of this course is, it’s so well structured to make your future ready to cater to any industry. The hybrid approach used in PMP certification is addressing the need for an hour, especially after the pandemic times. This course not only helps you to be a proficient project manager but also carves your personality of servant leadership which helps in smoothing the project’s life cycle in the real world. I have had and will be carrying an attitude of being a long learner like a student for life and Prothoughts as an organization is doing everything to help aspirant students like me to achieve the pinnacle of success through their end-to-end solutions.

My sincere gratitude goes towards Mr. Arvind Nahata for all his mentorship and the entire ProThoughts team for coordinating every aspect that I needed to be certified.
