Disciplined Agile Foundations Course

In this module, you will learn how DA draws from Lean, Agile, and hybrid approaches to bring you a flexible decision-making framework. You will start to understand the concepts that will enable you to choose a way of working that is context-sensitive. You will move beyond the compliance of rigid prescriptive frameworks.

Learning Outcome: Understand how DA promotes agility through choice, context, and continuous improvement.

This module will guide you through navigating the DA Knowledge Base and Microsite. In this module, you will learn how to locate, interpret, and apply DA’s curated guidance, practices, and goal diagrams to support your team in challenging situations.

Learning Outcome: Gain confidence in using DA’s digital tools with ease, as & when needed.

This module will teach you how to diagnose workflow inefficiencies using tools like the DA Team Canvas. You’ll work through common team challenges such as delivery bottlenecks, unclear roles, or missed feedback loops, and then apply the DA knowledge base to recommend targeted improvements.

Learning Outcome: Start identifying gaps in your team’s delivery and introduce customized solutions.

VAP & Quick Starts are two of the most significant inclusions to DA recently. This module will make you proficient in accelerating value delivery through DA’s three-step Value Acceleration Process(VAP). You will also explore Quick Starts (context-specific flexible starting points to initiate projects and get them moving quickly). At the end of this module, you will be able to build an improvement backlog to implement after the course.

Learning Outcome: Learn to guide your team through improvement initiatives that deliver value and lasting changes.

After learning, it will be time for practice. This module will bring a scenario where you will put theory into action by getting into a real-world enhancement team case study. You will evaluate the team’s challenges, use the DA Browser and VAP to create their WoW, and develop a plan of improvement.

Learning Outcome: Apply all that you have learned to a practical scenario that will have evolving requirements and a delivery timeline.

This module expands on the learnings of the previous module, comparing another team’s utilization of DA. You will be able to contrast your learning in this second scenario, which will focus on the maintenance team. In this module, you will analyze how DA helps different teams to define their priorities, overcome stagnation, and find their way of working.

Learning Outcome: Establish versatility by comparing DA’s application across different contexts.

Our final module includes exploring other scenarios and the course wrap-up. In this module, you will learn how approaches and frameworks of Disciplined Agile can be applied to non-technical teams and complex delivery environments. You can participate in discussions that will broaden your understanding and help you consolidate your learning.

Learning Outcome: Leave with a personalized plan and tools to implement the Disciplined Agile Toolkit in your own teams.

PMI is introducing Disciplined Agile Next as part of its new strategy to reposition Disciplined Agile for greater impact and relevance.
Disciplined Agile is outcome- and solution-based. The new Disciplined Agile Foundation (DAF) workshop offers practical, ready-to-use solutions that you can apply immediately after attending the 1-day session.

The DA Foundation workshop will be for 8 hours. It will be a practical workshop in which students can practice different scenarios using a MIRO board.

Yes. PMI and ProThoughts provide various tools and templates that you can use in your day-to-day work.

Disciplined Agile is a toolkit to help you achieve better outcomes as a team. One challenge with various teams among many was where to start using DA and how to use DA in practical scenarios. How to transition from, say, Waterfall to Agile life cycle? How to identify various problems the team is having and how to implement the required solution? The DAF workshop helps to acclimatize with the DA toolkit and, more importantly, use it in your day-to-day scenarios, thereby making you and your team more effective!

DAF is designed for both individuals and teams. However, it is most impactful when teams attend together, as they can implement solutions more effectively. We also offer customized corporate team workshops.

The existing certifications of DASM, DASSM, DAC, and DAVSC are no longer valid. However, people certified with these credentials can renew them on a yearly basis to maintain the credentials, as they are still useful in the market.

Yes. Upon completing the DAF workshop, you will receive a Credly badge. Additionally, ProThoughts offers a DAF certificate after a short assessment.

PMI does not require an exam for DAF. However, ProThoughts conducts an internal assessment to award its DAF certificate.

 PMI’s official DAF material is included in the workshop cost. In addition, ProThoughts provides a comprehensive set of resources to help you implement DA practically and effectively.
