What are the different ways to Earn PMI- PDUs?

     6256 views

Our expert always believes that earning PDUs and maintaining your PMP® Certificate is one of the easiest jobs as compared to passing the PMP® exam.
PMI wants you to be active on your PMP® credentials and gives you plenty of options to earn PDUs (Professional Development Units) to maintain the PMP® certificate.

PS: For all PMI certifications except the CAPM®, you’ll need to follow the Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) program and earn professional development units (PDUs.) The goal is to ensure that your certified competencies stay relevant and up-to-date.

Below are the different ways to earn PDU’s:

1. Webinar:

Attending Webinar: One of the free-ways to earn PDUs is to attend our free webinars – you update yourself on the latest trends or happenings and you can also earn the PDUs.
eg. 2 hours of Webinar = 2 PDU’s

Hosting a Webinar: The other way of earning PDU’s wherein you can choose one of the Project Management processes and share your experience and knowledge. You can contact the experts from ProThoughts and finalize the content and topic and schedule a Webinar.
Eg. 2 hours of Webinar hosting = 4 PDU’s.

2. Read – E-books :

Reading E-books is the other way to earn PDUs – you learn more about the things in project management and you can earn the PDUs.
The most important thing to note here that you can earn all of your PDUs using ‘Read’ category. If you like reading this could be your preferred way to maintain your certificate.
Furthermore, you can also still earn the PDUs by reading our blogs and get the PDUs.

3. Content Creation:

Also, you can earn PDUs by creating content. We, at ProThoughts, a PMI-USA registered gives you an opportunity to write content and articles on project management and provide a platform to be published.
Write to support@prothoughts.co.in if you are keen to contribute and earn PDUs.

4. Online courses :

Also, we have provided our free online courses and paid courses for aspirants and ProThoughts members where they can learn or refresh newer things in the project management space.
You can check our Online courses (ProThoughts E-learning)

5. PMI – Certifications:

And of course, you can also register for newer certifications and courses, and get yourself registered for these courses and earn your PDUs. These are paid PDUs where you will gain new knowledge / best practices and get the pack of PDUs at one go (as compared to free PDUs where it will be lesser).

The PDUs are typically 1 for each hour.

Some of the PMI Certifications are PMI-ACP, PMI-PgMP, PMI-PfMP, PMI-PBA,etc..

Each professional development activity yields one PDU for one hour spent engaged in the activity. Some limitations apply and can be found in the Ways to Earn PDUs section that discusses PDU activities and associated policies.

Fractions of PDUs may also be reported. The smallest increment of a PDU that can be reported is 0.25. This means that if you spent 15 minutes participating in a qualifying PDU activity, you may report 0.25 PDU. If you spend 30 minutes in a qualifying PDU activity, you may report 0.50 PDU.

So, all the best – go for your option – and maintain your coveted certificate. It is literally very easy.

You can contact our Experts or Sr. Counselors for guidance or you can email at support@prothoughts.co.in or call +91-8422907604 for any clarifications.
