I am Aditya Sharma, working as a Senior Engineer in the Planning Department at DRAIPL. I have an experience of 10 years in infrastructure development and 3 years in Project Management. With the help of my real-life experience in actual Construction, projects helped me a lot in gaining experience in both Execution and Project Management.
Why I opted for PMP Certification:
Although I have a background in Infrastructure development and have real-life experience in Project Management through my projects, I wanted to have more relevant guidelines from a Project Management Certification. To help me with this, a certification from PMI was the best way to know about all the respective domains and it also provides proper guidelines.
ProThoughts Role:
To be eligible for PMI-PMP, 35 PDUs are required. After much research, I chose ProThoughts for this PMP Certification training. My Instructor – Saurabh Parikh Sir is well-professional and knowledgeable and ProThoughts helped me throughout the journey of PMP. They have provided real PMP mock tests which were very helpful.
I prepared my PMP application as per the format provided by the ProThoughs and applied. Within 1 week my application was accepted. Now comes the main part – Preparation.
Preparing for PMP:
Being a working professional, It was very tough to get time from your daily routine for its preparation. With my rigid decision, I took at least 2 to 3 hours daily with full honesty. I chose Rita Mulcahy for its simplified explanation over the PMBOK-6th edition. I read it around 3 times to gain full knowledge and content. Secondly, As Agile is also part of the PMP exam as per the new change exam pattern effective from January 2021, I have gone through the Agile Practice Guide provided by PMI.
I also recommend people who have started preparing for the PMP certification exam to read the Agile Practice Guide at least 2 times. It is very good and teaches you a lot. After gaining enough knowledge the best part is to judge yourself for PMP readiness to give a full 5 to 6 mock test. The mock test should be scheduled a week after analyzing your GAP from the previous Mock Test result. Agile videos can also be helpful and it is available on YouTube.
Fixing the Date and Exam Time:
After analyzing my result from the Mock Test I gained some confidence for the exam. Although each Mock Test suggests scoring at least 70% above (As I scored an average of 62%), it was okay and not a worrying situation. I suggest maintaining confidence in yourself and it also helps to boost your morale. I fixed my date and had a full revision. A day before the exam, I spent my time relaxing and having a good sleep. In my opinion, you must take adequate rest if you opt for an early morning schedule for the exam.
Exam Day:
I had opted for the Pearson Vue – Centre-based Test. A total of 180 questions are to be covered in 230 minutes. You have the option to take two 10-minute breaks each after completing 60 questions. I recommend taking a 10-minute break as it will help in relaxing mental pressure. After 4 curtail hours, I cleared my PMP certification exam!
Conclusion:
I believe that confidence, PMP training, PMP® ProMock exams, and comprehension of the inputs, outputs, formulas, tools, and methodologies of significant processes are the keys to passing the PMP® exam. All candidates for the PMP® certification exam have my best wishes. Your PMP exam success is just one call away!
