PMP Success Story Jyoti Putrevu
Jyoti Putrevu had been working in project management for years, so she already knew how valuable the PMP certification could be for her career. But knowing is one thing, and staying committed through deadlines, distractions, and dense study material is another. What followed was a journey marked by perseverance, mentorship, and laser-sharp focus.

Curious how she did it? Read on, because Jyoti’s story might just be the motivation you need for your own PMP journey.

Here’s PMP Success Story By Jyoti Putrevu –

As someone working in project management for several years, I always knew that earning my PMP certification would take my career to the next level. However, like many others, I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of study material, the time commitment, and the rigorous exam format. However, I knew that obtaining the PMP would validate my expertise and open doors to more opportunities.

I realized that getting my PMP would not only validate my skills but also provide me with the formal knowledge I needed to manage projects even more effectively. The recognition and career advancement that came with it were key motivators.

Balancing Life, Work, and Study

Balancing my work and study schedule was one of the toughest challenges. Between meetings, deadlines, and family obligations, finding time for study sessions was difficult. Additionally, understanding the complex concepts of the PMBOK guide was a bit daunting at first.

Finding a Study Strategy that worked

To overcome time management challenges, I created a study schedule and stuck to it. I dedicated weekends to deep dive sessions and utilized my lunch breaks to review flashcards. I also enrolled in ProThoughts and got mentored by Souvik Sir, whose guidance helped me focus on high-priority topics. Breaking down the PMBOK into digestible sections and applying real-world examples helped me grasp concepts more easily.

One key moment for me was when I fully grasped the importance of the ‘triple constraint’—time, cost, and scope. Understanding how these elements interact in the real world helped me appreciate the PMP framework much more and gave me the confidence to apply it in my projects.

Exam Day Experience

On exam day, I was nervous but prepared. I had been practicing with mock exams and time management techniques, so I was confident I could finish within the 4-hour limit. When I finished the exam and received the result, I was elated to see that I had passed! It felt like the culmination of months of hard work and focus.

Earning my PMP has opened up new opportunities in my career. I’ve gained more credibility within my organization, and I’ve been entrusted with larger, more complex projects. The confidence I now have in my ability to lead and manage has been incredibly rewarding.

My Advice

My advice to anyone pursuing the PMP certification is to stay focused, stay consistent, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. It’s a challenging journey, but the reward is well worth it. With the right mindset, anyone can achieve this goal.
